I would like to tell you about one of the unique villages that I have ever seen — Wimbledon Village — a travel destination that actually doesn’t look like a village. According to its official website, it is a place “where city meets country.”
Wimbledon Village is situated between the Town Center and Wimbledon Common, in the south of London. It is full of attractions and amusements for those who like to spend their time in bars (like Eclipse), cafes, restaurants (like Lydon’s Restaurant, Loch Fyne Wet Fish) and unique boutiques (like Advintaged, Crew Clothing, Caroline Randell – Lingerie Boutique). The are all situated in the beautiful countryside, although you often forget that you are in a village.
Actually, I chose this travel destination because I had been told that many tennis stars spent their time there after championships. I was there for about a month, but I didn’t meet any stars. I think the reason is that I was busy with shopping and didn’t pay attention to people around me.
The shops and boutiques at Wimbledon Village were really great! Advintage was the one I liked most of all. You can find wonderful bags, scarves, gloves, hats, elegant and unique casual dresses, evening dresses, jewelery and handbags here. In other words, this unique shop is a heaven for women who appreciate ancient and classical clothes. Of course, the prices are a little bit high, but you can be sure that you are the only one to wears this or that dress.
After a nice shopping day, you can visit the Lyndon’s Restaurant or the Eclipse bar (there is a karaoke every Wednesday).
But the place I liked best of all was the Riding Club just in the heart of Wimbledon Village. There were many well trained horses and even small and funny ponies. To tell the truth, I had visited this club for just admiring the beauty of horses. But after seeing the experienced and handsome riding instructors, I dared to ride a horse. Surprisingly I was a bit afraid, but soon I realized that I liked riding a lit. After two weeks my instructor even said that I could compete with the best riders. Of course, that was a joke, but I really enjoyed riding and l even think of developing my riding skills and becoming a professional.
This is what I found in my travel destination at Wimbledon Village. Visit this village and see what unique things you will find here for yourself.
